JOB SUMMARY:

The Process Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing manufacturing processes within KLS. Ensures that production systems run efficiently, cost-effectively, and meets the highest standards of quality and safety.

This position involves leading a team of engineers, collaborating with various departments, and implementing innovative solutions to improve production methods. The Process Engineering Manager will develop and manage the Project Management methodologies and provide expert guidance to project leaders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Act as a Subject Matter Expert for KLS production processes and operations.
2. Ensuring all processes are implemented to meet KLS’s EHS, Quality and Production requirements.
3. Design processes, systems and equipment meeting all applicable codes, regulations, and Engineering best practices.
4. Working with other members of the project team, Production, EHS and Quality teams, external vendors, and contractors to deliver capital projects on time and within budget.
5. Commissioning new plant and processes.
6. Optimizing the operation of existing processes.
7. Aiding and troubleshooting support to the site operating team to maintain plant production & quality.
8. Providing specialist technical assistance to the site HSE department, including providing responses to questions from the regulatory authorities (California, USA and International)
9. Training site staff in new processes & programs

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree (preferred) in Engineering or a related field, with 7-10 years of experience, preferable in Industrial Pharmaceuticals and/or Chemical Manufacturing.
• Experience managing industrial projects from concept to startup.
• Experience applying Project Management methodologies and RAGAGEP.
• Experience with Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
• Experience with cGMP and ISO standards.
• Experience participating and/or leading Process Hazard Analysis (PHA, HAZOP), implementing and supporting Process Safety Management.
• Experience sizing and selecting process equipment, such as CSTR reactors, agitation systems, heat exchangers, pumps, vacuum systems, process instruments, etc.
• Experience reading and commenting P&ID, PFD, and other technical drawings.
• Self-motivated with strong initiative and drive to succeed. With excellent interpersonal skills, will be able to work effectively in a team and on their own initiative, leading a team as required.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
• Must be proficient in IT (Office packages)
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and other engineering tools
• English language

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and/or WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. Work with and around forklifts. The employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone keypad or to write, as well as talk and hear.
